Scope:This specification covers an irradiated, thermally-stabilized, flame-resistant, modified-polyvinylidene-fluoride plastic in the form of extra-thin-wall tubing. Primarily for use as a semi-rigid, electrical insulation tubing whose diameter can be reduced to a predetermined size by heating to 175 degrees C (347 degrees F) or higher.

【摘要】:ThistestmethodisbasedonTestMethodF903formeasuringresistanceofchemicalprotectiveclothingmaterialstopenetrationbyliquids.Thistestmethodisnormallyusedtoevaluatespecimensfromindividualfinisheditemsofprotectiveclothingandindividualsamplesofmaterialsthatarecandidatesforitemsofprotectiveclothing.Finisheditemsofprotectiveclothingincludegloves,armshields,aprons,gowns,coveralls,hoods,andboots.Thephrasex201C;specimensfromfinisheditemsx201D;encompassesseamedandotherdiscontinuousregionsaswellastheusualcontinuousregionsofprotectiveclothingitems.Medicalprotectiveclothingmaterialsareintendedtobeabarriertoblood,bodyfluids,andotherpotentiallyinfectiousmaterials.Manyfactorscanaffectthewettingandpenetrationcharacteristicsofbodyfluids,suchassurfacetension,viscosity,andpolarityofthefluid,aswellasthestructureandrelativehydrophilicityorhydrophobicityofthematerials.Thesurfacetensionrangeforbloodandbodyfluids(excludingsaliva)isapproximately0.042to0.060N/m(1).Tohelpsimulatethewettingcharacteristicsofbloodandbodyfluids,thesurfacetensionofthesyntheticbloodisadjustedtoapproximatethelowerendofthissurfacetensionrange.Theresultingsurfacetensionofthesyntheticbloodisapproximately0.042x00B1;0.002N/m.Thesyntheticbloodmixtureispreparedwithareddyetoaidinvisualdetectionandathickeningagenttosimulatetheflowcharacteristicsofblood.PartoftheprotocolinProcedureAandBinTable1forexposingtheprotectiveclothingmaterialspecimenswithsyntheticbloodinvolvespressurizationofthetestcellto13.8kPa(2psig).Thishydrostaticpressurehasbeendocumentedtodiscriminatebetweenprotectiveclothingmaterialperformanceandcorrelatewithvisualpenetrationresultsthatareobtainedwithahumanfactorsvalidation(2).Somestudies,however,suggestthatmechanicalpressuresexceeding345kPa(50psig)canoccurduringclinicaluse(3,4).Therefore,itisimportanttounderstandthatthistestmethoddoesnotsimulateallthephysicalstressesandpressuresthatareexertedonprotectiveclothinggarmentsduringactualuse.Thistestmethodisofferedtoidentifythoseprotectiveclothingmaterialsthatwarrantfurtherevaluationwithamicrobiologicalchallenge.Sincethistestmethodusesvisualobservationratherthananalyticalmeasurementsfordeterminationofpenetration,usethistestmethodasapreliminaryevaluationforpossiblepenetrationofbloodandotherbodyfluids.PerformsubsequenttestingwithamicrobiologicalchallengeandanalyticaltechniqueusingTestMethodF1671.Note18212;NoviralresistanceclaimscanbemadebasedonthistestmethodasmaterialscanpassthetestmethodandfailTestMethodF1671.Testingwithoutconsideringdegradationbyphysical,chemical,andthermalstresseswhichcouldnegativelyimpacttheperformanceoftheprotectivebarrier,couldleadtoafalsesenseofsecurity.Considertestswhichassesstheimpactofstorageconditionsandshelflifefordisposableproducts,andtheeffectsoflaunderingandsterilizationforreusableproducts.Theintegrityoftheprotectivebarriercanalsobecompromisedduringusebysucheffectsasflexingandabrasion(5).Itisalsopossiblethatprewettingbycontaminatingmaterialssuchasalcoholandperspirationcanalsocompromisetheintegrityoftheprotectivebarrier.Iftheseconditionsareofconcern,evaluatetheperformanceofprotectiveclothing..........
