【摘要】:Amongthefactorsaffectingshaftseallifearetheabilitytoretainelasticityandcompensateforshafteccentricity,abilitytorecoverfrombending,andresistancetowearandtheswellingeffectsofcontactfluids.In-servicetestingofcandidatematerialsistimeconsumingandthereforecostly.Measurementofrecoveryfrombendingafterexposureinfluidsatelevatedtemperaturesprovidesameansofquicklyassessingthematerial’potentialandacceptabilityforuse.Comparativerecoverydatamaythenbescreenedandoptimumperformingcompoundsselectedforfurtherimprovementorsealfabrication.Ithasbeenfoundthatgoodtoexcellentcorrelationexistsbetweenamaterial’abilitytorecoverfrombendingandsealingeffectiveness.Thismethodisdesignedtomeasuretherecoveryofdifferentrubbercompoundsafteraginginanyliquidmedium,includinghydraulicoilsandwater.Thismethodcanalsobeusedtotestrubbercompoundsafteraginginair.Testliquidsshouldbechosenbasedontheintendedenduse.1.1Thistestmethodcoversaproceduretodeterminetherecoveryresponseofrubberafterparticularbendingdeformation,subsequenttoaginginselectedmediaataspecifiedtemperature,andforaspecifiedtimeperiod,thusprovidingameasureoftherelativeperformancepotentialofcompoundsusedinthemanufactureofshaftseals.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
